"Extremely good ... with a charm and propulsion that only comes from the most serious, well-practiced bands."—New York Times
Legendary cartoonist Robert Crumb and guitarist Dominique Cravic founded Les Primitifs du Futur in 1986 to satisfy their craving for Parisian musette: the bittersweet, accordion-flavored, romantic music popular in the city’s cafes and backstreets in the 1920s and 1930s. Les Primitifs du Futur perform an intoxicating brew spiced with strains of early jazz, tango, polka, and gypsy swing that instantly captures you in its spell. The reclusive Crumb does not participate in international tours, but Cravic leads the band’s renditions of this retro-modernist music with impeccable flair. A perfect fit for our intimate cabaret-style shows and an impeccable introduction to the smoky, enduring charms of musette.
